Things to bring: Small bag containing water bottle, pencil box and colour pencils.

Nanyang Primary School Food Drive

A food drive has been organized this week (29-31 Jul) with the hope of doing our part to help the community.

At the same time, we hope to teach our students the virtues of giving and loving others in times of need.

The collected food items will go to the following beneficiaries:

1) Betesda- Children’s orphanage in Batam We have partnered a group of students from Hwa
Chong Institution (a couple of them are our ex-students!) who have come up with a self-
initiated project to reach out to the needy children there. By donating to these children, it is
also a reminder to our students to appreciate what they have and not to take what they have
for granted.

2) YMCA- My Manna Store
NYPS Girls' Brigade has partnered YMCA to collect donations for their food drive. Our girls
will help to help to sort and package the food items before distributing the foodstuff to needy
families in Singapore that have been identified by YMCA.


The donated items will go a long way towards helping the less fortunate in society, and we really hope for your full support in making this event a success!

Racial Harmony Day

Pupils are encouraged to wear Ethnic costumes on Monday (20 Jul) as we'd be commemorating Racial Harmony Day.

COMPETITION:
The class with most pupils wearing Ethnic costumes will receive a award (blue slip for each pupil in that class).

Nanyang Glitters

The Nanyang Family is proud to present Nanyang Glitters, our very own in-house production showcasing our talented pupils. It promises to be a day of delightful surprises as our pupils from Primary 2 and different CCA groups come together to bring you their best performances to raise funds for the construction of our Indoor Sports Hall.

This production is an opportunity for our children to showcase the skills they have learnt. It also affirms the school’s efforts in developing our children in the aesthetics domain and acknowledges the support of our parents and other stakeholders who believe in the school’s good work in developing the children holistically.

In order to accommodate a larger audience, two shows have been planned. We are very privileged to have guest performances by Zoe Tay and Chen Xiu Huan for the event. Our alumnus, Stefanie Sun, will also be making a special appearance for the evening show. The details of the concert are listed below.

Date: 1 August 2009 (Sat)

Time: Matinee: 3.30pm – 5.00pm

Evening: 7.30pm – 9.00pm

Venue: Nanyang Girls’ High School (Siew May Auditorium)

Please note that tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. All sales proceeds from the tickets will go towards the construction of the Indoor Sports Hall. You can purchase the tickets by sending an email to nyglitters@gmail.com, stating your preferred seat number(s). Once your purchase is confirmed, we will send a confirmation email to you. Please note that once the confirmation email has been sent to you together with your seat.

Nanyang Portal and Gmail

There are 2 circulars informing you how to access Nanyang Portal and Gmail for yourself and your child. Please take some time to read through them and access the Portal and Gmail at home. Please send the form teacher an email through the Gmail Accounts (Parent's and Chlid's) to acknowledge that you have successfully logged in. Do highlight any log in problems so that I can refer them to the IT department. This is important as in the event of school closure, we will actively use the Portal and Gmail to conduct home-based learning. Thank you.

Submission of Travel Declaration Form
All parents with children studying in Nanyang Primary School are to take note:

Please take a look at the Communication Note below.

Please download and complete the travel declaration form below. After which, please email the form to your child’s form teacher by 10pm Wednesday, 24 June. The email addresses are in the second document for your reference.

You are required to submit one form for each of your children studying in the school.

Returning declaration form through email to form teachers is meant for data collection. Pupils are STILL required to bring the signed travel declaration form and their thermometers to school on Monday, 29th June, as the forms will be checked and collected by form teachers.

A NIL REPLY IS REQUIRED.

CHINESE TEST ON 30/4

Dear parents

RE: Chinese test on 30/4

The children had gotten back their blue files. This is to enable them to revise for the coming Chinese class test on 30/4 (Thursday). All the hanyu pinyin topics that we have covered thus far (textbook pages 5-66) will be tested.

I have given the pupils a revision paper（华文复习一） last week and will return the papers to them by the end of next week.

The format in the revision paper would be the same as the actual class test.
